First Citi Dividend Received

I wish I had waited until my statement closing date to request my check, but the lure of the > $50 total was too much to bear. I thought there would not be much of a difference between when I my cycle date and when requested the check a few days before. But there was like a $17 bump on my cycle date (must have been those gas and grocery bonus points), so if I had waited I could have received over $75.

Note to self, next time WAIT until the cycle date.

The check only took about 6 business days to arrive, and my $59.13 is the result of about 10 weeks of spending (including the washing machine).

Aside from their online "security" annoyances, I'm pretty happy with a credit card that sends me cash.

  1. Caitlin,

I haven't yet tried a credit card that gives money back on purchases. I'm more of a "miles" whore with my AAdvantage Mastercard but might consider trying a different reward route since the last few tickets I haven't been able to score using miles anyway.

By the way, thank you again for your regular and insightful comments on Sitting Pretty. I added Clutter2Cash on my links section today.

  2. I was going to say almost exactly what Nina just said. I'm not sure I'll be able to use miles as much in the future, especially since my card is with United, so cash back might be the way to go.

  3. Yeah, I was a die-hard United Mileage Plus Visa user for eight years, but it's gotten hard to book award travel, and I'm tired of the annual fee.

I weaned myself off of miles credit cards slowly by getting an MBNA WorldPoints card where you can choose miles or money as a reward. But the rewards were pretty paltry, so I wreaked havoc on my credit rating by opening a Citi Upromise card just a couple of months later. So far happy with it, but still wondering if I should have gone with the MBNA/Fidelity 529 card, or a rewards card that contributes to my retirement savings instead of college.

  4. Great blog! You've inspired me, and I just finished up the application apply for my Citibank Dividends Platinum Card. Thanks for the money making tip.
